Follow Peace

Hebrews 12:14 - 'Follow peace with all men.......'

How do you follow peace? The bible tells us to follow peace with all men. But sometimes, people hurt our feelings, and do us wrong. So should we be wimps and let people run all over us? No, but we have to make sure that we handle things properly.

By following peace, we handle things in love and never intentionally try to get back at people. No matter how bad they do us, we must always deal with them in love. God never desires us to fight back or punish people for their actions, he will handle that. But there is something about following peace that automatically punishes people for their wrongdoings.

I remember when I was younger and there was always a popular person in school with you. Someone that you liked walking with because it made you feel special, like you could get people's attention if you were with them, or people would think better of you because you are cool with this particular person. And no one would mess with you because they knew that this person you were with would have your back! Well, that's how it is when we follow peace.

Imagine if "peace" was a special person. Imagine following this person around. People start reacting differently, treating you respectfully and wanting your company. People will look at you walking with "peace" and know that you are special. Even when everyone and everything around you is in turmoil, if you are following "peace" people will follow you. And you would never have to worry about getting back at people or people messing with you because "peace" would have your back! Follow peace and you will be followed by peace.
